The Children
Caucasian children are available for adoption from orphanages throughout Ukraine at one year of age. Ukrainian adoptions are somewhat unique in the way the children are offered. After completing your dossier, you travel to Kiev for an appointment with the Ukrainian Central Registry. This Central Registry in Kiev presents complete referral information on available children who match the age and gender criteria stated in your home study. Parents may adopt more than one child at a time. The Ukrainian program is very quick; adoptions are normally completed in about six months.
Eligibility
Singles and couples married at least one year between the ages of 25 and 60 are eligible to adopt children.
Travel
Both parents (if applicable) are required to travel to Ukraine. Initially, you travel to Kiev to meet available children and select the child you wish to adopt. When you make a decision on a child, you then begin the adoption procedures. The entire process takes approximately 18-21 days. You then travel with your child to Warsaw, Poland to obtain the child's visa. This adds approximately 3 more days.
The Fees
The total cost of the program ranges from $25,000 to $27,000. This is a complete price, including INS fees, home study, documentation and courier fees, visa, agency and foreign coordinator fees, and airline and hotel fees for two adults and your new child.
