Mission Statement
Madison Adoption Associates is a Hague accredited, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to bring hope, love, and a permanent family to children in need. By serving children and families through domestic and international adoption, our work is guided by the following core principles:
MAA works to maintain standards and policies that are consistent with applicable child welfare policy and law, including, without limitation, The Convention on Protection of Children and Cooperation in respect of Intercountry Adoption (“Hague Convention”), the Intercountry Adoption Act of 2000 (“IAA”), and the implementing regulations set forth in 22 CFR Part 96-98 (“Hague Regulations”). Specifically, Madison Adoption Associates shall abide by the principles of (a) ensuring that intercountry adoptions take place in the best interests of children; and (b) preventing the abduction, sale or trafficking of children in connection with intercountry adoption.
In keeping within our mission as a social service agency, we have developed and delivered extensive humanitarian aid to children in need. Our charitable programs have included donating a new roof on an orphanage in Russia, and provided funding to have heat installed in another Russian orphanage that had no working heater. Madison purchased and delivered air conditioning units and a new washing machine for an orphanage in China. We provided the finances to help build and complete the new “Cuilapilla School” in Guatemala, which will provide education for children age 6 and up, including uniforms and schoolbooks, and we helped to make available additional educational opportunities for early elementary education and pre-school. Other projects have provided clothes, beds and bedding for numerous orphanages in China and Guatemala; donated clothing and toys to orphanages devastated by the massive mudslides in Guatemala; donated car seats for every Guatemalan child in our adoption program after one of our babies was involved in a car accident; and, participated in a toy drive for local children at Christmas that provided Christmas presents for more than 50 children who live in poverty.
Madison has also made significant financial donations to provide aid to Bulgarian orphans; sent financial aid to the flood-ravaged areas near Manila, Philippines; sponsored surgeries for children with special needs through China’s Tomorrow Plan; sent funds to pay for immunizations of poor children in Guatemala and to pay the medical bills of children with special needs; donated funds to sponsor the Focus on Adoption “In the Best Interest of the Child” conference; donated $10,000 to Little Mouse Emergency Fund through Half the Sky Foundation when China was hit by severe weather; sponsored an AIDS orphanage in Guatemala; and, sponsored non-profit organizations in the local community such as Junior Achievement of Delaware, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and the American Cancer Society.
For Madison’s adoptive families, we have a Grant Program that provides assistance and fee reductions to families who are bringing home waiting children.
